Introduction
Greece's
Ionian Sea is an ideal sailing destination.
It offers the perfect combination of sparkling seas and warm sun,
magnificent islands and mainland coastline, and numerous ancient
and medieval monuments. Add to this a passage through the Gulf
of Corinth, visits to the
ancient theater of Epidauros, to
Delfi, the Olympia, and much, much more, and you
have the makings of the passage of a lifetime.
As we sail
the blue green waters of the Ionian, you will marvel at the stark
beauty of the quaint, yet elegant ports we will visit. These shores
have hosted historical figures as Odysseus, Cleopatra, Roman Caesars,
Venetian Merchants, Ottomans, and so many others. The history
of Greece is inextricably tied to the sea and her islands and
their geographical features.
We plan on
sailing an average of about 3 to 4 hours a day -and a few 5 hour
days- so as to leave plenty of time for relaxing, swimming, and
exploration of the destinations we visit. We will also sail through
the Corinth Canal whose construction was started by Nero
in 67 AD and finally completed in 1892.
This flotilla,
like our 1997 Cruising World Flotilla which sailed from Corfu
to Zakinthos, goes beyond the Ionian Islands as we explore the
coastal towns along the Gulf of Corinth & Athens.
Our passage
will visit the Ionian Islands of Corfu, Paxos, Lefkas, Meganisi,
Cepahlonia, Ithaka, and the mainland port towns, along the
Gulf of Corinth, Patras,Galaxidi, Aigion, Epidauros, &
the Island of Aegina. Each day is planned with a stop for
swimming to enjoy the serene coves with crystal clear waters,
then sailing on to our day's destination.
Accompanying
our flotilla will be an archeological guide who will lead
us on guided tours (both walking and with tour buses) to visit
the ancient and modern villages and sites. At the end of each
day you will enjoy the meals served at spirited Tavernas located
at waters' edge and serving delicious Greek cuisine and Ouzeries
& shops where you'll experience the laid back lifestyle of
local Greek life and music. Each of our island or village visits,
promise to be rich in discovery & excitement.
Each of the
Ionian islands is unique, culturally and architecturally shaped
by its history. Their people also share things in common; their
cheerfulness, their songs, their zest for life and especially
their warmhearted hospitality and simple lifestyle. They are quick
to laugh or cry or engage in passionate discourse over matters
of great and not so great importance, and always with a ready
invitation.

Day:
Wednesday 04.09.2005 embarkation 13:00' at Alimos Marina. 14:00'
departure to Epidavros - on/about 18:30' arrival Epidavros. Free
evening (1st overnight).
2nd Day:
Thursday 05.09.2005 Epidavros (Ancient theater) 9:00' Bus H/day
tour to the ancient theater - return and embarkation 13:00'. Mid
stop for swimming in Corfos bay, arrival Corinth through the channel
on / about 19:00'. (2nd overnight).
3rd Day:
Friday 06.09.2005 departure Corinth to Galaxidi, mid stop for
swimming, arrival Galaxidi on / about 16:00'. Free afternoon evening
in this spectacular and historical town. (3d overnight).
4th Day:
Saturday 07.09.2005 8:00' Bus H/Day tour to Delphi & Museum,
back to Galaxidi on / about 13:00' lunch in one of the seaside
taverns. 15:00' embarkation and departure to Aigion. Mid stop
for swimming at Trizonia isles. (4th overnight).
5th Day:
Sunday 08.09.2005 Aigion 7:00' Bus tour to Ancient Olympia.
(Not included in Economy Class)
After Ancient Olympia the bus will meet the Yacht in the marina
of Patra, on /about 15:00'. Embarkation and departure to Ithaca
island. Arrival on / about 21:00' (5th overnight).
6th Day:
Monday 09.09.2005 Free morning to see Odysseus island.12:00' departure
to Fiskardo (setting of the recent movie "Captain Coreli's
Mandolin") . Mid stop for swimming. Arrival Fiskardo / about
17:00'. Free evening. (6th overnight).
7th Day:
Tuesday 10.09.2005 10:00' departure to Portoleone (Kalamos island).
Arrival on / about 13:00'. Swimming and lunch. On about 16:00'
departure to Vathi (Meganissi island). Arrival on / about 18:00'.
(7th overnight).
8th Day:
Wednesday 11.09.2005 10:00' departure to Lefkas island. In our
way we will stop to Scorpios island (Aristotle Onasis' private
island) to swim at Jacquelyn Onasis' beach and Sparti island.
Arrival Nikiana (Lefkas) on / about 13:00' (lunch seaside taverns,
water - fuel (our base). On / about 17:00' departure Nikiana to
Lefkas town, for overnight, arrival 18:00'. (8th overnight).
9th Day:
Thursday 12.09.2005 9:00' departure to Paxos island. Mid stop
at Antipaxos island for swimming and lunch. On / about 15:00'
departure to Paxos island where we arrive on / about 16:00'. Free
evening on this wonderful fishing village. (9th overnight).
10th Day:
Friday 13.09.2005 10:00' departure Paxos in direction to Corfu
island (marina Gouvia). Mid stop for swimming and E.T.A. Gouvia
16:30'. Free evening to visit Corfu town. (10th overnight).
For this last evening there will be dinner in a traditional tavern
for all the participants, offered by Albatross. (Not

Saturday 21.09.2005 07:00' Bus tour to ancient Olympia.(Not
included in Economy Class)
Then the bus will meet the yacht in Aigion. Embarkation on / about
14:30'. Departure 15:00' to Galaxidi, mid stop for swimming, arrival
Galaxidi (mainland) on / about 18:30', free evening. (7th overnight).
8th Day:
Sunday 22.09.2005 08:00' Bus half day tour to Delfi. Return Galaxidi
and embarkation on / about 14:00'. Departure to Corinth after
a mid stop for swimming on / about 20:00'. (8th overnight).
9th Day:
Monday 23.09.2005 9:00' departure Corinth, mid stop in Corfos
bay for swimming, arrival Epidavros on / about 14:00'. 14:30'
half day bus tour to the famous theater, back to Epidavros marina,
free evening. (9th overnight).
10th Day:
Tuesday 24.09.2005 9:00' departure Epidavros to the last island
of our cruise, which is Aegina, E.T.A. 11:00'. We stay in Aegina
for swimming and fresh fish up to 17:00'. Then we sail to Athens
(Alimos marina), E.T.A. 19:00'. (10th overnight).
For this last evening there will be dinner in a traditional tavern
for all the participants, offered by Albatross. (Not

Wednesday 25.09.2005 9:00' disembarkation.
