Tim, thanks
to Albatross & Meandros, for setting up the sailing voyage among
the Greek islands, that we had in the Aegean on September 27- Octomber
4, 2003.
I want you to
know that numerous members of our group, including myself keep reporting
to friends that this was propably the best trip we have ever had.
To realize the level of that you need to know that most of us in
the group have traveled internationaly extensively. (My work has
taken meto at least 100 countries and we have lived in 6 countries
on 4 continents.)
The material
we received in advance, the quality of the vessel and the prsonel,
and the operation by the Captain were outstanding. Each of us find
ourselves recommending you to our friends. In fact i just finished
sending out your name and condact information to four people who
are interested!
Thanks again
for helping make this a great trip.
Cheers, Hank,
Kathy

Hi,
I thought I'd take just a minute to tell you what a good idea it was
to fly to Athens, put our group on a couple of catamarans and motor/sail
off into the Saronoic gulf.
First, the big cats were comfortable.
The Skippers were terrific sailors, extraordinary seamen, and I would
never sail Greek waters without a skipper who spoke the language.
A skipper just has to know the harbors, which tend to be small and
involve anchoring and rafting up at the same time under changing conditions
with sizable ferries rolling into those same harbors and causing a
modest but relevant amount of wave slop to make the rafting
up, anchoring and/or tieing up not dicey but no place for a man who
doesn't know that harbor and its harbormaster and doesn't speak Greek.
Our Skippers were also sensitive guys who coped with two very different
sets of crew/passengers. Costa was terrific and I think you
could unreservedly request him to skipper you anytime. We liked
Dmitri as well who had one of God's toughest assignments, eight teenage
California girls with multiple agendas and confusions similar to eight
teenagers from just about anywhere. I think he coped quite well
and that he hadn't gone completely nuts by the last day is a tribute
to his parents.
Second, the islands where we went for this, our first time, were entirely
interesting, various, with dramatic settings, pleasant sitings, and
food ashore that was excellent both as to evening meals and as to
provisioning for the next day's lunch on the next leg of the journey.
Hydra, Spetza, and Epidavros were especially interesting.
Thanks for helping us get into and through this Tim, and Maria.
I'm sure our multiple agendas and multiple points and times of entry
and out of Athens didn't make your task any easier. I appreciate
your patience and good counsel.
The next time we come I think we'd like to start at Santorini and
have a two week sail back to Athens or to Turkey and fly back out
of Turkey. Is that doable?
Bravo,
Kevin J McCarthy

Cabin charter on the S/Y Star

What
a WONDERFUL TIME we had on the Star, with our Captain, Panos, and
cook, Penny.
ALL of us from this trip had a FABULOUS time sailing around the
Aegean Islands. The only comment other than we loved it, was
that there was
too much food!
Seriously, all the arrangements were smooth and on time. We
had a very de-stressing time enjoying the sun, sea, and Grecian
points of interest. Panos is a wonderful captain--full of stories
and recommendations on what not to miss, yet always watchful of
our safety. Penny added her concern for our happiness, what
more could one ask?
So
thank you for your professionalism, thank you for answering all
our questions, and thank you for great memories.
Sincerely,
Megan Jans, Dennis Jones, Holly and Dave Svetz, Bob and Judy Francis,
Joan Bauerlein, and Peggy Bultman.

The
staff at the marina was most helpful in preparing for our sailing
departure, as well as keeping us informed with what was going on
here in the States. It was most comforting to know of their
concern. On board, both Chris and Agnes were a true delight.
As our Captain, Chris' skills and knowledge were superior.
His input and recommendations made our voyages exactly what
we wanted. Agnes was a dream come true! Her culinary
skills were thoroughly enjoyed, as well as her sailing skills. We
couldn't have personally selected better shipmates! We would
like to send each of them a thank you note, if you would be so kind
as to provide a mailing address for them in Greece.
Again, the trip was a dream come true thanks to everyone on staff.
We will highly recommend you to our friends looking for the
perfect way to experience the Cyclades.

The
Albatross organization did a great job from the initial briefing
to the final docking. Paris was such a pleasure to know as
a skipper and friend. We did increase our sailing skills and
better understand the history and culture, thanks to Paris.
The
food was absolutely outstanding, thanks to Paris and Spyros.
The Saronic trail was a good choice after meeting with George and
his group of Sweeds aboard Dream that headed for the Cyclades,
but returned due to the heavy weather and seas.
Be
proud of the excellent product you deliver, the details you manage
so effectively, and the fair price you ask. We will recommend
you without hesitation. Thanks
again.

The
entire vacation was a trip of a lifetime! We couldn't have
been more pleased with the organization of the vacation - from the
van that met us, to the comfortable bus that returned us to the
airport; The tour of Athens was fantastic;
We
were impressed by the congeniality of the hosts - from Spiros and
Angela, Yiannis, Maria, Panos and Paris - and of course the
treat of meeting his family, then his and Vickie's graciousness
as they drove us to a unique neighborhood restaurant, then joined
us for a feast on our final evening. The boat was just
great - well maintained, very clean and comfortable. It's
almost overwhelming when we reflect upon the antiquities that
we've seen, the gorgeous scenery, the delicious food, and the best
of all being with dear friends. We can't thank you enough
for including us in your 60th birthday celebration trip.
It
truly was a trip of a life time with many memories to cherish forever.

“Summer Love”
|
|
I
wanted to let you know what an amazingly fabulous time my wife and
I had on our 25th Anniversary charter!
"Summer
Love is a very special boat. Not only is it much larger than we
had anticipated, it is one of the most beautiful vessels I have
ever seen. Mike & Demetris have put a lot of loving care into
"Summer Love", and it has paid off. The boat is clean,
sails great...and that huge stateroom is magnificent! We traveled
with one other couple ( although we could have gone with two other
couples comfortably)..the arrangements were simple: we had the large
stateroom for the first half, and they had it the second. We stored
extra luggage in the third stateroom, and had three heads at our
disposal.
Where
we got extremely lucky was with the crew of "Summer Love".
The skipper, Attalos, was the friendliest, smartest, funniest, and
most seaworthy man I know. His English was perfect, and he did whatever
we wanted. He was absolutely perfect. The big surprise was with
George, the cook. He is actually a gourmet chef hiding out on "Summer
Love",
This
was like a French barge trip! The food was magnificent... George
was an artist.
Needless
to say we are satisfied customers. The way the entire charter was
handled was professional from the very beginning. There were no
surprises, and everything was delivered as advertised.
You
may be assured that we will refer our friends to you and that we
will most certainly be doing business with you again!
Thanks
for making our 26th Anniversary so special.

In
Many years of chartering, I have never had a pleasanter experience
than our recent bareboat charter of an Atlantic 44 in the Aegean.
Everything
from our initial contact with you to the summoning of a before dawn
taxi to the airport on our last day in Greece was as smooth and
efficient as possible.
We
shall certainly come back for any future excursions in that part
of the world.

Absolutely
delightful trip in every way. Captain was always helpful and tremendously
professional in all his tasks. We can't wait to take our next trip.
Highly recommended. This was my 5th trip to Greece and definitely

Gib Sea 35 (retired)

Overall
we enjoyed the week-long sailing experience with our 35-yacht boat.
The skipper (Andrew) was excellent (friendly, experienced and knowledgeable).
There were some issues with the boat (e.g. turn sails) due to boat’s
age (9 years old) and maintenance, but these were resolved rapidly
and efficiently. Miltos (from Albatross Marine Enterprises) was
extremely friendly and hospitable (he also picked us up from the
airport). The website provided lots of useful information. If you
like sailing and different exotic islands and weather, the Greek
island is it!!
If
this is your first charter you should take the following into consideration:
- If sailing in the Cyclades it is preferable to pick-up the boat
on one of the islands
- Take a boat with a furling main, at least 40 feet and not older
than 2-3 years
- Check season and weather forecast
