Bareboat Flotilla Charter - A group of sailboats sailing the same itinerary with the support and planning of a lead boat. An Albatross Flotilla Charter is unlike any other. Our flotillas blend a variety of interests and a unique sailing adventure. We plan flotilla charters to appeal to those who have not previously chartered in Greece and yet want to experience the sail of a lifetime and the adventure of discovering Greece and her islands. Flotillas are also inviting to those sailors who do not yet feel comfortable sailing their own charter because of their limited sailing experience or because they know they will see the best places if the trip is planned by the experts.

We plan our bareboat flotillas for a one week sail with a lead boat to show you the way around the Greek Waters and help to get you familiar with your boat and the procedures of docking, port procedures, and generally getting around Greece. If you are fortunate enough to have additional time to sail in Greece, we encourage you to continue your charter on your own as a seasoned Aegean navigator, for a nominal cost for the additional days or weeks) you have available.

There is no sailing in the world like sailing the Greek Islands. A true adventure that will bring together the peak excitement and tranquillity of sailing plus the spectacular sites and sounds of an ancient civilization combined with the spirited zest for life of the Greek people. The clearly defined coastlines of the islands, whose colors vary from emerald and turquoise to a deep indigo blue, are breathtaking. Greek architecture, influenced by thousands of years of history and neighboring cultures, is seen in the marvelous island buildings & homes, set on the waters edge or atop steep hills and mountain cliffs. With every island we visit, you will be overwhelmed with ancient temples and cities whose designs are still marveled today.

Departing from the Port of Kalamaki - Alimos Marina - for the Argo-Saronic Gulf or for the Cyclades , you will encounter a group of islands of varying size scattered over the deep blue waters of the Aegean. Some of them are well known while others are known to only the few dedicated travelers of the Greek Waters. Our Flotilla leader will guide you to the little known treasures of these island groups where you will delight in the rich traditions of the Greek culture. There are unlimited ancient sites to explore and discover, quaint little villages and sea ports to visit. Sailing through the Cyclades & Saronic Gulf, you will encounter spectacularly scenic and private coves to stop at for a swim or anchor for the night. Part of the fun of sailing the Greek Islands is to enjoy the delicious variety of the Greek cuisine enthusiastically prepared at the islands' tavernas where you can join in the spirited and festive Greek ethnic dances. These are likely to erupt spontaneously at any time or as part of a festival celebrating the name day of a saint.

Cyclades Islands May 23 - June 1 & Sept 26 - Oct 5 .....$ 2,045 pp including airfare , hotel & more.
The 56 islands of the Cyclades are scattered over the azure blue waters of the Aegean Sea. These islands are best known for their history dating back to the bronze age, but they also offer unspoiled beaches, entertainment, and spectacular views from the sea and villages which are usually set on the highest elevations of the island. Our flotilla will set sail from Kalamaki. Marina (near Athens) and set a course for the most fantastic sailing vacation you can experience. Some of the islands we will set off for include Kea, Siros, Paros, Mykonos, Serifos, Kithnos, and others. Our course will be adjusted to weather and winds and the interests of our flotilla sailors.

Saronic Islands June 27 to July 6 ......$ 2,245 pp including airfare , hotel & more
The history of the Saronic islands is inextricably bound up with the Sea. Aigina was one of the most powerful maritime states in Greece. Poros is the Island of Poseidon Salamis gave its name to one of the greatest battles. Hydra and Spetses led the Greek fleets in battles of the War off Independence. Our flotilla will set sail for the island of Aigina and head for the coast of the eastern Peloponese. Our course will be guided by the wind and at a relaxing pace, which is exactly why your love of sailing brought you to Greece. Some islands we will set sail for will include Epidavros Paros ,Hydra, Spetses, and others.

FLOTILLA PLAN
Our flotilla departs on a Boeing Airbus Olympic Airways flight from New York's JFK airport in the evening to our beachfront hotel. For those wanting to wander off to the beach or walk to the Marina, It is close by and an easy walk across the street. In the evening, there will be a short get together for cocktails and orientation where the group's sailors will meet and get acquainted before beginning their sailing adventure. After cocktails, dinner is on your own, but we recommend a your first dinner in Greece be on the beach, just in front of your hotel and next to the marina. On the following morning, after breakfast, we will take a half day tour of Athens , including a visit to the Acropolis. At the end of our tour we return to the hotel, gather our gear and head over to the marina to our waiting boats. We will check our boats, together with the base manager and lead skipper and board our yachts. When everyone is settled and ready for departure, we set sail for our first island!

ITINERARY
We will sail in the island groups of the Cyclades or the Saronic. The selection of islands we sail depends upon the winds , the preferences of the charterers and ,of course, with the final decision for the itinerary, rests with the lead boat skipper. The sailing schedule for the flotilla is a seven day charter beginning on Saturday afternoon and ending the following Saturday morning at 09:00 (except for those charterers who chose to extend their charter on their own). Each day, the plan is to sail 3 to 5 hours between islands so there is plenty of time to stop for a swim and snorkeling, lunch and to leave enough time at the end of the day to see the sights. The lead boat will plan to arrive at the day's destination island by 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon on each day. Other boats can adjust their own schedule as they wish to sail more or see more of the sights. At the beginning of each day, the lead boat skipper will review the day's plan. All boats will sail together as a group, except if each boat's crew wishes to do some independent sailing.

EXTEND THE CHARTER ON YOUR OWN
At the end of the flotilla, after you have been guided through some of the sailing areas of the Greek waters, become familiar with your boat and sailing procedures in Greece, plan to sail off on your own. We will be happy to extend the charter on your boat. Rates vary, depending upon the boat chartered and will be discounted from the standard rates. Plan your extended charter early so your airline tickets and boat can be reserved at the most economical rates.
